DVD REVIEW – Rating: 6/10

gleedvds1

Glee release of the first half of the season on DVD couldn’t come any quicker for its fans but it leaves you wondering are the extras that it comes with just a slap together of odd stuff that they had lying around or have they actually put some effort into this DVD release?

The 4 DVDs that the set comes with have all 13 episodes of the shows first half of its season premiere with the last disk containing the episodes “Mattress” and “Sectionals” along with 13 extras and 8 video diaries.

The Extras

The extras come with some interesting material but it could be expanded upon a bit more – for example the “Casting Session” video, which only included brief clips of Lea Micheles, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer’s audition tapes could have been expanded on so fans (like myself) get more information on why they chose who they chose.

I think the one actual performance that would have been done especially for the DVD is the “Welcome to McKinley!” video which basically tries to replicate a school production of a new students introduction to McKinley high with Principal Figgins guiding you around parts of the school. Now whether the objective here was to be funny or just put in as a space filler I do not know but for one thing: Believing that this is funny is like believing that it would be a great idea to go to foreign planet and kill all the natives to obtain rare minerals.

The Video Diaries

This was one part of the DVD that was actually pretty good, they basically gave all the main cast members (not Heather I’m afraid L) Flip HD Video Cameras for their first trip to New York as a complete cast and had them film whatever they wished. You get to see how the cast members act out of their regular characters and there’s some pretty funny moments like Cory & Diana’s “I’m Filming you, Filming me, Filming you, Filming me” and the cast members awesome hotel room party that looked like it got a bit crazy as the night went on!

Here are the cast members that you get to see video diaries of:

Glee DVD Extras - Video Diaries

An interesting side note that I picked up in the video diaries is that only Cory and Lea got to travel first class to NYC while the others had to slack it in economy!

So that concludes my review, My recommendation on the DVD would be to grab it if you are a hardcore fan as there are some pretty funny and interesting extras.

Heather Brings "Glee" to Buffalo [Interview]

»Posted on Jan 3, 2010 in Images, News, Test-Images, Test-News | 0 comments

Heather went to Buffalo recently to help out the Performing Arts Dance Acadamy, dancers in attendance had the chance to take a hip hop class with her. They had a choice to either learn one of her songs that she did with Beyonce or learn the song “Bust Your windows” from the Glee TV show. The majority of Dancers chose to learn the song that she did with Beyonce “Crazy in Love”

Lauren Kirchmyer from TheExaminer.com managed to get an interview with Mrs. Morris that sheds some light on Glee behind the scenes:

What’s it like to work with someone as popular as Beyonce?

I’ll have to admit, it’s nerve-wracking at first. It’s definitely scary like when you’re somebody that’s just starting out and you’re like “ah it’s Beyonce.” After a while you get used to it and you start to understand her and her life and it kind of prepares you for moments like this that I get to go through.

What’s your favorite part about working on Glee?

My favorite part about working on Glee is that I get to do what I love all day, everyday. I get to do music, I get to dance, and I get to act. It’s amazing, and everybody’s awesome. It’s the best cast in the whole world.

What’s the hardest part about working on a musical television show?

The hardest part is probably exerting all that energy all day long for like 18 hours straight, that might be the hardest part. You have to sit and wait while they set up shots. It’s not hard because you love it but it’s also really tiring.

What is your schedule like?

It varies. Sometimes it will be like 5 am to 2 am but not often. Sometimes it will be like 12 pm to 2 pm. It just varies, it’s different.

You did a performance to “Proud Mary” when you were in wheelchairs. What was that like?

That’s a really good question! I haven’t been asked that yet. That was so cool. First of all it hurt your arms and I felt bad for Kevin who’s Artie who has to do it like everyday because [his character] is in a wheelchair. It was really cool though. It was funny! We were falling off our wheelchairs, everybody was pushing each other off. It was hysterical to work on that number.

Who is your favorite character, besides yours?

Oh thank you, it is. No I was talking about this earlier today and I of course want to say Sue. She’s brilliant as a character. I also love Artie. He’s one of my favorite characters ever because he’s just so sweet so I like him a lot.

How did you get on Glee?

I kind of got to meet and interview with Ryan Murphy because I was doing “Single Ladies” at the time and it just so happened that they needed someone to teach the “Single Ladies” dance. I came in to teach it to the actors. The choreographer actually had come over and spoken to me and said well they’re looking for a third cheerleader and come ready and dressed, you’ll meet Ryan Murphy. So I came in, did it, and then a week later I got a call from my agency saying that I booked it. It was pretty awesome. I thought I was going to have to read. I was prepared to do a read or sing but nope, I just kind of had to dance and be pretty. That was it.
